“Lights, Camera, Action: Youth/Teens/Adults Film Academy”

 

 

 

Instructor: Mr. Michael C. Johnson

Tuition: Free

The program will introduce participants to the fundamentals of filmmaking aspects of digital video production, including adding music and working from the initial concept to the finished movie. Students will learn about pre-production planning, storytelling and scriptwriting, filming and editing, cameras, lighting, sound, shot composition, they will work on individual projects and collaboratively on group projects such as a short film project and more.

Students will have the opportunity to work as crew or extra in a real film set.

There will be a public screening to showcase the work for friends and family, and each student receives a digital copy of all projects completed in the workshop.

Acting for Film/TV

Instructor: Ms. Kim L. Johnson

Tuition: Free

 

To start acting, focus on understanding your character's objectives, actions, and reactions, and learn to listen and react authentically, while also exploring your voice and movement techniques​. How to act in front of the camera and more.

*Acting Classes are required for Film/TV and Theater students.

Tuition: Free

Students will cover the basics of screenwriting structure, exposition, scene propulsion, character building, and dialogue. They will also learn the difference in floormat for film writing and writing for television as they learn how to write and film their own short film, PSA and/or commercial.

The goal of the workshop is for each student to complete at least one short, shootable script, and the skills to continue writing on their own.

What a Day
We were so excited to be at Comerica Park with Mrs. Rosilyn Brown and her family and to be a part of her father the late Norman "Turkey" Stearnes and the Negro League Baseball Players Celebration, and to hear Mrs. Brown and her sister Joyce Thompson sing  the "Star Spangled Banner".
